Tacos al vapor

(2 people)


  • Corn tortillas

  • 2 nopalero (guajillo) chiles, deveined and seeded

  • 1 cloves garlic

  • 1 chicken bouillon cube

  • 1 small handful of marjoram (dried oregano)

  • Oil

  • 1 cup water

  • Stews of your choice (potato, bean, mole, chicharrón)

  • Sauce of your preference

  • Cabbage to accompany


  • Cook the nopalero chiles with a cup of water, the  cloves of garlic and the chicken bouillon cube. Boil for 3 minutes.

  • Once boiled, put them in the blender with a small handful of marjoram. Blend perfectly. Strain this mixture.

  • Separately, in a hot frying pan add a little oil, pass the tortillas one by one through the chili mixture but only on the thickest side of the tortilla, and pass it through the hot oil for a few seconds. Place them on a plate.

  • Cut pieces of aluminum foil of approximately 30 cm, place the tortillas and fill them with their stews, put 4 tacos per package. Close the packages.

  • Place in a steamer for 20 minutes. Serve with cabbage and sauce of your choice.
